It is true--I have over 30 years experience of dog ownership but it was not until the recent past that I have decided to completely change careers to something that I am extremely passionate about--dogs! After the birth of my children, I came to the realization that I needed flexibility that my 12-year long career as a clinical dietitian could not provide. I became a stay-at-home mom while also working at our furniture business. In addition, I helped out watching family and friends dogs. Having the unconditional love from multiple dogs in our home really helped pave the way to Everyday Companion Dog Services.
It is important to note that this new venture is not possible without my supportive husband Dave, and my little helpers. My daughters have been raised to love and respect all animals. Although the girls are never left alone with our dog friends, any dog entering our training program needs to be friendly towards children and not display any behavioral issues such as aggression or biting.
Meet Cassidy and Stella--my grateful Texas Heelers (Blue Heeler mixed with Australian Shepard). I adopted these litter mates at 3.5 months old on July 15, 2017--this is exactly two years before my twins were born! Another fun fact--they have the same birthday, 3/26, as my late German Shepard, Roxy. My initial plans were to adopt one dog; however, just prior to our arrival Stella (the white dog) was put in the kennel with her sister to "cheer her up" as she was not eating and losing weight. Well, I couldn't separate knowing that! I learned that Stella had kennel cough shortly after she was brought home. She started to thrive normally after receiving the proper treatment. And, well, the rest is history.
Today, Cassidy and Stella are an important part of my life. They offer everyday companionship and provide tremendous amount of happiness to my pack. Together we have experienced many walks, snuggled on the couch or in bed, traveled to different cities for music events, ate at different restaurants, and camped at various locations. My life would not be the same without them in it.
Stella and Cassidy are the best co-workers and are great at helping teach your dog how to properly and safely interact with other dogs (and are always down for a fun time)!
Education:
I received hands-on training through an intensive internship at Pack of Patriots Dog Training, LLC in South Carolina, where owner Judy continues to provide ongoing mentorship. Additionally, I completed coursework at Jo-Thor’s Dog Trainers Academy located in Georgia with owner Lisa. To stay updated on current techniques, I read books, listen to podcasts, and participate in professional continuing education courses.
